A new free telephone (and related) directories search engine that is useful to journalists. The main advantage is that it searches multiple directories at once. This is especially useful because different directories use different databases which on average overlap only 70-80%. Many different search types are supported: people, business, toll-free, reverse search (by phone or address), search for area and zip codes. It also searches for maps, email addresses and weather conditions and forecast. Search results can be sorted by name, address, street, city, state, zip code or phone number and can also be saved on disk in various formats (plain text, csv/excel, or html).

This study, by Carl Conetta, Briefing Report #11, 18 Jan. 2002, summarizes the available data on civilian bombing casualties during the Afghanistan war. It finds that the air campaign directly claimed 1,000-1,300 civilians lives and asks, Why was the rate higher than in the 1999 Balkans war? It answers by examining mission objectives, the nature of the enemy, bombing methods, and technical features of the US weapons mix.
